It was during this pivotal moment, sitting on the office floor, that Laura envisioned a more efficient, streamlined approach to legal staffing.

Get to Know Us
Laura Maurice
President
Laura founded Connect Staffing, Inc. in 2007 to provide positive experiences and outcomes for candidates, clients, and employees. The firm has grown significantly since its early days and while she remains involved in day-to-day recruiting, Laura now spends the bulk of her time managing the firm’s overall recruiting operations for legal staff, attorneys, and high-volume staffing programs. Laura also writes as a side gig and has been published in various legal trade magazines. She received her B.A. from Duke University and her M.B.A. from Georgia State University.
In her spare time, Laura is an avid yoga & Pilates devotee as a balance to her Type-A personality. She is proud to live and work in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta.
Emily Preston
Manager- Recruiting & Marketing
Emily Preston wears dual hats at Connect Staffing. She is adept at managing our firm’s social media and marketing to raise the firm’s visibility and attract both candidates and clients. When she is not in her marketing role, Emily manages full-cycle legal recruiting from sourcing candidates to interviewing and matching them with new job opportunities and working with clients to facilitate the hiring process. Emily understands how complex and exhausting the job search can be and aims to simplify the process for both candidates and clients. Emily has a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University, holds an Associate Professional in Human Resources credential through HRCI, and is a Certified Digital Marketing Professional through the Digital Marketing Institute.
John McAllister
Recruiting & Operations
John McAllister leverages diverse industry experience to excel in his role in Recruiting and Operations. With a background spanning two decades in retail management for esteemed brands such as Ann Taylor, he brings a wealth of expertise to recruiting and managing onboarding and other back-office functions. John spearheads recruiting efforts for corporate high-volume staffing clients as well as legal clients in the Carolinas and Tennessee. He holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Mary Washington and an associate degree in Specialized Technology (Fashion Design) from the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
Sherie Holmes Bush
Director- Attorney Recruiting
Sherie Holmes Bush manages all aspects of attorney recruitment, focusing on nationwide partner, lateral associate, and in-house placements. With nearly two decades of legal experience in Atlanta, Sherie earned her B.A. and J.D. from Emory University. A former Partner at several AmLaw 100 firms who transitioned to attorney recruiting, she merged her boutique attorney recruiting firm with Connect Staffing in 2023. Sherie is actively involved in the Atlanta legal scene and oversees client and candidate relations along the Northeast Corridor from her base in Boston.
Afi Scope
Attorney Recruiter
Afi Scope brings a diverse background in consulting and marketing to her role, as well as a JD/MBA from Temple University. After a career in management consulting and marketing for companies like Intel Corporation, Afi has dedicated the past decade to attorney recruitment since moving to Atlanta from the West Coast. Afi thrives on the hunt of the search, meticulously matching attorney candidates with the right opportunities to benefit both clients and candidates alike.
